As you prepare sessions for the August 6-7 district days, please use the following protocol:

  • Write clear learning objectives for the session:
    • What will participants know and be able to do?
    • Because the session is only two hours, think about the three (3) things you want participants to know or be able to do well. Don't try to tackle too many objectives as you will have participants of varying technology skills, who may become frustrated and shut down if you try to tackle too much.

  • Chunk the two-hour session into at least three learning activities.
    • Design learning activities that...
      • Have the instructor MODEL a concept or skill.
      • Give participants a chance to practice in small learning groups or with a partner.
      • Allow participants to work independently with instructor moving about the room to monitor and offer individual help as needed.

  • Design hand-outs/resources to help participants throughout the session and after the session:
    • To save money and be ecologically responsible, please minimize paper copies.
    • Post hand-outs on the wiki page for your session. For future reference, a link to the wiki will be added to the district website. If you need help posting content to the wiki, please contact Lisa Huff or Pam Brooks.
    • If you have print hand-outs, please provide Pam Brooks a master copy by July 15so that she can make copies for your sessions. Otherwise, you will need to come to district office to make copies because Pam will be involved in other trainings.
      • Please do not send individual hand-outs to Pam at different times; instead, prepare all hand-outs for a session and send the entire "packet" at one time.

  • Please provide a list of needed resources to Pam Brooks no later than July 1:
    • Resources may include markers, anchor charts, sticky notes, highlighters, etc. Please do not request expensive supplies such as flash drives, CD's, etc. as funds are limited. Be frugal!
    • Please complete this form so that we can compile all needed resources and copies into one document.

  • On August 6-7, please arrive early to allow time to make sure you have all needed supplies and that technology in your assigned room is working.
